Project: 21,000 sq.f.t - 5 Story Apartment Conversion
Location: Sterling Place
330 Clarence Street
London, Ontario
Scope of Work: Designed by Moore & Henry and built in 1901, this five storey red brick building has a long association with the Sterling Brothers Boot and Shoe Co. and later Siegle Shoe Stores Ltd.

Due to the location of the building and the work being performed it was necessary to scaffold the entire south and west sections to provide access to complete the work safely for our workforce and general public which is always a primary concern of ours.

 BEFORE

All work to the exterior was done to keep the original design and finishes in mind and meet certain guidelines set out to meet "Heritage" requirements.  The building was also fitted with new energy efficient windows and a new insulated roof.

The interior of the building was completely gutted to suite the new layout and design.  Numerous structural changes were required to meet present day building codes including two new concrete block stairwells from the basement to the underside of the roof along with the entire building being sprinklered.  All the existing utilities were abandoned and new brought in to meet the upgrades required. The original maple floors where repaired and refinished to keep in tune with the Owner's wishes.

The selection of apartments range from bachelor to three bedroom.  All units are self contained with individual heating-cooling along with full bathrooms and kitchens.

This was a very interesting and challenging project to be involved in.
